Climatocork iD: More Function

Superior Wearing Comfort
Outstanding moisture absorption and skin compatibility define our in-house developed Climatocork iD footbed. The abrasion-resistant and skin-friendly RTex cover quickly and effectively draws moisture away from the foot into the cork base – preventing performance-reducing slippage inside the shoe. In return, Climatocork develops natural cushioning properties and gradually adapts to the shape of the foot.

Anatomically Contoured
The unique core design of the Climatocork iD footbed ensures that the entire rearfoot is securely positioned. A specially shaped heel cup, combined with targeted support under the base of the fifth metatarsal, provides excellent stability – increasing sure-footedness while running and reducing the risk of blistering caused by moisture-related slippage.

Arch Support
Running puts extreme stress on the body – especially on the legs, feet, and joints. The arches play a key role in absorbing impact: both the longitudinal and transverse arches must handle enormous loads with every step. Thanks to its anatomical shape, the Climatocork iD footbed supports the foot precisely where needed – optimizing pressure distribution and force dynamics to enhance overall performance.

Maximum Performance

Natural Philosophy

Neutral Setup
Our goal was to develop a running shoe that supports and guides the runner – without imposing a new running style. Scientific research and our many years of experience have shown that strong corrective elements, such as pronounced supination or pronation supports in the midsole, can negatively affect running behavior. That’s why a completely neutral sole setup was essential to us – meaning no firmer materials along the inner or outer edge that interfere with the natural running motion. The same principle applies to heel-to-toe drop: less is more.

Low Construction and Drop
In many running shoes, midsoles are built up to be quite massive – using large-scale heel cushioning elements to increase shock absorption. However, this high sole construction creates an unfavorable leverage effect. The center of gravity shifts upward, which increases the risk of twisting an ankle and puts more strain on the ligaments. That’s why we deliberately keep our sole construction low, with a drop of just 9 mm. We achieve optimal cushioning using a premium, high-resilience EVA blend.

CNC-Milled Midsole

Milled From a Solid Block – 100% Homogeneous Material
Using high-precision CNC milling, the midsole is carved from a solid block of high-tech EVA. Unlike mass-produced components, this process yields a cushioning sole made of 100% homogeneous material – with clearly defined rolling points in the heel-strike and midfoot zones. As a result, Runnertune shoes offer high forefoot flexibility and deliver excellent ground feedback and direct responsiveness while running. We also avoid using flex grooves in the forefoot, opting instead for a continuous rubber outsole with outstanding rollover characteristics.

Stable Yet Flexible
Our experience from real-world running practice shows that a stable rearfoot design with guided heel support positively influences the gait cycle. At the same time, the forefoot must remain highly flexible to allow unrestricted movement of the metatarsophalangeal joints and promote a natural rollover motion. The same applies to the transition between forefoot and rearfoot: flexibility is essential to preserve the natural torsional behavior of the foot. Runnertune running shoes deliver exactly that – rearfoot stability, forefoot flexibility, and high torsional adaptability for a more dynamic running experience.

Ground Control

Know What’s Going On

Natural Running Through Flexible Soles
Running is far more than just movement – it’s a direct connection to nature and the environment around us. But in recent years, technological developments have changed that experience: thick, ultra-soft soles increasingly disconnect us from the ground and reduce the feedback that is essential for a natural running style. At Runnertune, we take a different approach. Thin, flexible outsoles – paired with a highly effective cushioning midsole – allow runners to perceive the terrain in a pleasant, responsive way. This fine-tuned feedback, which we call Ground Control, makes changes in the surface more perceptible and enhances stability with every step.

Variety for the Feet
The benefits of a flexible sole construction go far beyond pure running feel. Greater freedom of movement actively challenges the foot, as it must continuously adapt to varying ground conditions. This activates and trains a wide range of muscle groups – improving coordination and sustainably increasing overall performance. At the same time, this constant stimulation supports a healthy running technique and helps strengthen the entire musculoskeletal system. In Runnertune running shoes, every step becomes a tangible expression of harmony between nature, technology, and health.

Perfect Support

Well-Designed Toe and Heel Counters
In running shoes, proper heel guidance is crucial. This is ensured by so-called counters – reinforcement materials integrated into the shoe to provide structure and stability. They are positioned invisibly between the upper and the lining. In Runnertunes, we use two specific types of counters: toe counters, which ensure long-term shape retention in the toe box. This gives the toes enough room even during the rollover and toe-off phase – reducing the risk of bruised toenails. And heel counters, which stabilize the rearfoot during the landing phase. For this purpose, we use a special fiber-reinforced composite that combines long-lasting structural stability with minimal weight.

Precisely Molded by Hand
We do not use pre-manufactured components. In every Runnertune running shoe, the toe and heel counters are carefully pre-shaped by hand over the last and checked for perfect fit – ensuring they provide targeted support exactly where needed. Each heel counter is also manually tapered at the edges to blend seamlessly between upper and lining. It is recessed in the heel area, allowing the shoe to adapt perfectly to the natural curve of the runner’s heel – effectively minimizing friction points and reducing the risk of blisters.

SKIN Padding

More Comfort While Running

High Adaptability
Unlike conventional padding materials, our SKIN material features skin-like properties and moves naturally with the foot. Its special cell structure allows it to continuously adapt to the contours of the foot over time. The result is a running shoe that, after a short break-in period, feels like a second skin. This outstanding cushioning and adaptive effect is especially noticeable in the tongue design: the tongue molds perfectly to the top of the foot and ensures even pressure distribution across the lacing.

Smart Design for Added Comfort
Many runners are familiar with the issue: the tongue of the shoe is too long at the top and causes uncomfortable friction in the ankle crease. To prevent this, we designed the padding in the upper tongue area with a concave shape. This thoughtful contour prevents the tongue from pressing into the ankle crease. In addition, each pad is carefully tapered by hand at the lower end to create a seamless transition – with no noticeable edge. Especially on long runs and extended sessions, this detail significantly enhances comfort by reducing pressure points and friction inside the shoe.

Healthier, Better Running

Lower Risk of Blisters
A standout feature of Runnertunes is the one-piece lining construction made from skin-friendly Oeko-Tex material. From toe to heel, the lining is cut from a single, continuous piece. This elaborate design eliminates material transitions inside the shoe. And transitions mean potential friction points – which can lead to blisters. Not in Runnertunes. And thanks to its light padding, the lining gently wraps around the foot, providing high wearing comfort from the very first step.

Skin-Friendly
During physical activity, the body sweats – especially the feet. The skin's pores open, allowing harmful substances from the outside to enter more easily. That’s why the lining of a shoe, which comes into direct contact with the skin, should be made from tested, non-toxic materials. For this reason, we use lining materials that comply with the Oeko-Tex Standard and are proven to be skin-safe.

Less Sweat Inside the Shoe
The functional lining textile combines excellent abrasion resistance with outstanding breathability. This ensures a consistently pleasant and performance-enhancing climate inside the shoe. It also prevents the foot from sliding around due to moisture buildup, further reducing the risk of blistering.

Half EU Sizes

Fit Advantage

Greater Precision
There is no globally standardized shoe sizing system – which means that size increments vary from region to region. Most running shoes on the market are based on the US sizing system, where one half-size equals a length increase of 4.23 mm. For us, that’s not precise enough. That’s why we follow the European system, where a half-size step corresponds to just 3.33 mm. The difference of 0.9 mm per half-size may not sound like much – but in relative terms, our sizing system offers nearly 20% greater precision compared to standard running shoes.

Toe Box With Room to Move
When developing the lasts for our Runnertune shoes, we gave careful thought to how the natural anatomy of the foot could best be translated into the shape of the last. That’s why we deliberately avoided tapering the toe area into a narrow shape just for the sake of a trendier look. On the contrary: a running shoe should be anatomically shaped and provide the space needed for the foot to perform at its best. That’s why the Runnertune toe box is generously sized – allowing the toes to move freely rather than being squeezed together. The result: a lower risk of bruised toenails.

Less Is More

Large Upper Sections
To avoid material transitions in the upper that can cause friction and lead to blisters, we designed Runnertunes with as few seams as possible. A prime example is the one-piece construction of our toe-lacing section. In mass-produced shoes, this section is typically made from two parts that overlap and are stitched together for cost reasons. This can lead to friction in the toe area while running – especially during toe-off – due to the doubled material layers. We eliminate this issue from the outset by using a single large piece of material.

Extended Lacing System
To ensure a secure fit even for narrow feet, we’ve integrated a long lacing system that extends far over the instep. In addition, two offset eyelets on either side allow for the use of marathon lacing – giving the foot even more hold if needed. Our tear-resistant laces support this effect: their special material blend adds slight elasticity, preventing them from loosening unintentionally and ensuring the knot only comes undone when you want it to.

Speed Stripes
For triathletes and anyone who needs to get going quickly, we’ve added pull loops at the heel and tongue to make the shoe easier to slip on. These so-called Speed Stripes improve grip during entry – especially with wet hands. They are positioned and constructed to allow fast entry without compromising comfort.
